ABSTRACT ARIZONA
As I was painting this, Arizona came to mind.
I have a particular affection for that state.
It was the first place I lived after retirement, but I only was there one year, due to family situations and it was a bit too hot for me also, although where I lived was 4500 ft elevation and it was not quite as hot as other parts.
I lived in Sierra Vista, a very nice, clean and neat little city thirty minutes from Mexico, and one hour south of Tucson. I lived near Fort Huachuca, famous for the Buffalo Soldiers, and I belonged to the Fort Huachuca Art Association, a wonderful group of artists.
I did a lot of exploring of the state and found many beautiful areas, from Sedona, the Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert, and on and on.
My father was born there, and his father was a ''real'' cowboy there in the early 1900's, herding cattle on the open range.
There is a ''light'' in Arizona that I have experienced nowhere else. Sunrises and sunsets and that Arizona big sky are all magnificent!
This is just Watercolor on textured paper.
