Poppy Tape Experiment
Poppy Tape Experiment
Too much stuff going on here but I posted it anyway....It all started with trying to figure out how Sandy Maudlin uses the tape in her examples on her blog...I love the Batik look she achieves with it.
I cut artists tape into little pieces and put them all over the flower, then painted over all the tape with Indigo...the idea being for the paint to seep around the edges and leave the ' batik like' markings. First mistake was using artist's tape...it would not tear. Next time I will use masking tape as she suggested in the first place!!
The background is done with dabbing the wet paint with crumpled saran/plastic wrap...then using some white ink.
I'm not happy with this but am posting as an example of techniques etc...:)
I love Sandy's work and her Blog...http://sandymaudlin.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-05-02T21%3A03%3A00-04%3A00&max-results=10
