When I was a girl, I had many ''secret places'' either on our farm or nearby where I would go and find some magical, mystical things in nature.
One of my favorite places was in a nearby forest where there was a fallen tree, which I visited every year, many times. The tree had rotted long ago and had patches of moss and tiny ferns and mushrooms or toadstools at times, and all various types of fungi.
It was a truly serene and lovely place with not another soul for miles....except the sense of the soul of all nature.
I painted this Whimsical Mushroom Colony as a memory of the sweetness of life here and there.
Inks and Watercolor.
