PEAR PLAY

WATERCOLOR & INK
Unfortunately as often seems to happen with the yellows...the scanner did not pick them up as well...and I cannot edit the orange out...these pears are more yellow than orange in the original...:)

As a teenager I lived in Lake County in northern California, and was allowed to work to earn some of ''my own'' money.....my parents didn't give ''allowances''.....One summer I worked in a "Pear Shed''.....sorting pears on a moving ''belt''....At that time Lake County claimed to be the Bartlett Pear capitol of the world......some of the pears that were unblemished and beautiful were left on the belt to be shipped to market, some that were not quite so great were tossed to another belt that was to go to the canneries, and the worst pears(and I do mean worst) went to a ''baby food'' barrel.....to be shipped to the baby food makers of the day, which is why later on, my children got mostly homemade baby food.
This was in the late 50's...and hopefully by now quality assurance and competition has stepped in and forced the baby food processors to ''take it up a notch!''...:)
