TREE IN WATERCOLOR & PEN & INK...FOR SUSANNA RICHARDSON
I thought I would share a little story with this painting.
Years ago, maybe 25 or so, I was at a party and a woman I had seen but did not know came up to me and said she had a message for me from a woman. I asked her the woman's name and she said, Susanna Richardson. I said I didn't know anyone with that name and she said the woman was a relative. So I asked ''Where does she live?"...She said she is not living, but lived several hundred years ago in England. I was a bit surprised since part of my family is from England....so I played along and said where in England, and she said the North Umberland area. I do happen to know that part of my family may have lived there, so I was a bit interested. I asked what the message was and she said it was, ''Paint trees.''....I said ''Is that all?'' She said ''Yes."
The strange thing is that this woman had no way of knowing anything about me or that my family was from England or that not only painting was my hobby, but also that I have loved and studied trees since childhood.
So now, every time I draw or paint trees I think of Susanna Richardson....:)

Still thinking of all the Pines that were lost to the Yosemite fire...but then I know they will come back. I still enjoyed painting this little vignette.

PEONY
PEONY EXPERIMENT
Gessoed paper was not the right choice for this one...the texture made it very difficult to control both the WATERCOLOR & INK....I wont try this again...too much work! I once again used the ELEGANT WRITER PEN..along with a Micron & watercolor.
