TALL LILY IN GARDEN TODAY

TALL LILY IN GARDEN TODAY by Louise001
TALL LILY IN GARDEN TODAY, a photo by Louise001 on Flickr.

I had to back up to try to get the whole height of this lily in the picture this morning...it is almost as tall as I am and close to interfering with the bird feeder.......The flowers are 7-8 inches across....a big year for this lily... I waited a little too long to take this and the rain the other day beat it up a bit...:(

FIRST TOMATO FROM MY GARDEN ON MY BIRTHDAY

BIRTHDAY TOMATO & SANDWICH
It may turn out to be the hottest day so far this year today...on my Birthday......I was born on the hottest day of the year in California, and my mother remembers it well, because there was no A/C in the hospital! I heard the story many times...
Since my daughter and granddaughter are taking me out to dinner Saturday for my Birthday..., when it is supposed to cool off, I thought I should have something special on my 'real' day.
These photos are it!!!!
My first Tomato this year from my garden, and my first Tomato Sandwich of the year!!!! I love them and crave them all year...but only those made with home grown tomatoes....
As a kid, everyday, the first thing I did when I got home from school was go out to the garden and pick huge Beefsteak and Heirloom(that's what they call them these days), tomatoes and make myself a sandwich....I miss those tomatoes, because of their delicious FLAVOR, because they were from the RICH SOIL of Lake County, Northern California...near Mendocino...best soil I have ever grown anything in. Wish I had photos of the Roses and iris we grew in that soil...huge and glorious....!
Here was my lunch today....it was yummy....for me it has to have whole grain bread...homegrown tomatoes, and Hellmans/Best Foods Mayonnaise.

POPPY...MIXED MEDIA EXPERIMENTS

The first rule of good painting is starting with a good drawing..unless you are a painter that throws caution to the wind and just paints loose with a brush.
I knew this was not a good drawing but I was experimenting again, still trying to get that Batik look using no wax...I'll keep trying...
