ELEGANT WRITER PEN SUNFLOWERS DRYING IN AUTUMN
I used the ELEGANT WRITER PEN to paint this one, and WATERCOLOR.
I love old, crinkly drying flowers and leaves. and my friend Jean posted a photo reminding me of them.
I rarely copy photos, and this is not a copy, but thanks for the reminder and idea Jean...:)

OPO SQUASH IN THE GARDEN 9-19-12
OPO SQUASH IN GARDEN TODAY
This squash is called an OPO squash by the Vietnamese.
It is a very mild, delicate squash that works beautifully in soups, and is delicious raw even.
It is in the garden growing in a pot placed next to the fence and has
supplied us with many squash.
Note; mildew is starting at the bottom, but otherwise it is still bearing and quite healthy.
It can be made without meat, but here is a recipe using shrimp.

POPPY..FAST & FUN
POPPY..FAST & FUN
I used Watercolor & Inks including The Elegant Writer Pen for this Painting.
Painting is the most fun for me when I start with no plan, no preconceived idea, no photo to copy.
This is when an idea comes, and it flows fast and free.
This was done entirely from the start in 30 minutes...no pre-drawing.
Then after it was dry I spent maybe 5-10 minutes touching it up.
I like it...:)
TREE VISION USING HDR-ish
I painted this today using Watercolor, Inks, & The Elegant Writer Pen.
I decided to have a little extra fun...so I added HDR-ish from Picasa....see original next to this one.

IN MEMORY OF MY SENTINAL TREE
IN MEMORY of MY SENTINEL TREE
I am posting this painting again that I painted a year or two ago because today I was horrified to see the local Power Company cut it down!!!!!!!!!!!! I am still in shock...they said they had to cut down all branches that were within ten feet of their power lines...and it was not!! I just think he got chainsaw happy...Fortunately there were two of these trees but this one was MY Sentinel Tree...right straight out from my studio window. Cutting down a perfectly beautiful 30 yr old tree is sacrilege to me....and it will take me awhile to get over it!!! At least I have my painting to look at...:)

HANDMADE JOURNAL BACK
HANDMADE JOURNAL BACK
What a find!!!!
I think nothing thrills an artist more than finding art related things at a bargain price. This was more than a bargain, it was a steal almost.
A neighbor had raved to me about a new just built Goodwill/Thrift store that had opened here in Grand Rapids.
Finally I decided to take a look thinking of frames etc....Imagine when I found this incredibly beautiful Handmade Journal ...made to perfection, and in like new condition!!
It is filled with 40 half pages of various Oriental papers and is really a sight to behold....The camera does not do it justice.
At this point it seems too lovely to paint in...Every bit of it is handmade, even the little fastener is a twig carved from a tree, and the flowers back and front are real....just gorgeous!!
Could you ever guess a price of ONE DOLLAR & NINETY NINE CENTS?????

Hello Everyone...I have sort of been on sabbatical for various reasons...I think I'm back to painting....(have I said that before? LOL!!!) :) :)
One of the reasons is that I have been trying to finish my children' book that I have worked on, ...off and on for over ten years...I hope to complete it before another ten goes by...:)
Here in Michigan we are having a bit of fall colors showing up...:)
