The leaves are falling fast, but we do have some brilliant displays of color here in Michigan. It won't last long, as snow is predicted in a week or so.
This is a Watercolor & Ink painting.

''MY AUTUMN WOODS'' PAINTING
Our woods are so wonderfully colored around Michigan right now.
This is done with Mixed Media.
Watercolor, Acrylic, Neocolor Watersoluble Wax Pastels, Inks...including the Elegant Writer Pen.
PUMPKIN WHIMSY...HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
This was definitely a fun playtime experiment.
I used all sorts of art goodies to create this including the Elegant Writer Pen, Black Acrylic applied with a ''gutta'' bottle,, Watercolor & Watercolor Pencils, and White Pentel Gel pen.
I have been asked about using the Elegant Writer Pen in sketches & paintings, so I wrote up a little tutorial for anyone interested.
ELEGANT WRITER...made by...www.speedballart.com
I use mostly size 1.3mm Extra Fine
I bought mine at my local Hobby Lobby arts & crafts store, near the Calligraphy section.
They are available online at various art sources also.
The cost is around three dollars.
There are several ways to use these pens in sketching/painting.
I usually draw first in pencil, then very lightly go over the pencil line with the pen, skipping some of them, not to overdo the ink.
I then barely touch the edge of the ink line with a wet(with water) brush which results in an explosion of the ink line.
You can also thoroughly wet the ink for another effect.
Once the ink has been wet with water and dried it will not ''explode'' again.
Once it dries you can add more ink if needed...and repeat procedures.
You can add watercolor after the ink has dried.
You'll want to experiment and play with it before using it on a ''serious'' sketch or painting...:)

BUTTERNUT PORN
I should have checked the ''backside'' of this Butternut Squash when I bought it.
I was quite shocked when I unpacked my groceries to discover my squash has a perfect ''butt''...:)

GINKGO BILOBA IN MY GARDEN...A LIVING FOSSIL...190 MILLION YEARS OLD...:)..SEE BELOW.
GINKGO BILOBA IN MY GARDEN...A LIVING FOSSIL...190 MILLION YEARS OLD...:)..SEE BELOW., a photo by Louise001 on Flickr.
Just beginning to ''get its color on''...:) It will be totally brilliant yellow in a few weeks.
Currently, Ginkgo biloba is the only known existing species of Ginkgoaceae. The term living fossil is often used to describe Ginkgo biloba since it appears the same today as it did in the past, as seen in the fossil record. This species dates back to about 190 million years ago, but the order to which it belongs, Ginkgoales, can be traced back earlier, to the Permian period. In the mountains of China, the species survived in Buddhist monasteries and were introduced throughout Asia around 1100 AD. It did not reach Europe or America until the 1700s. During the Cretaceous, at least five or six other Ginkgo species existed. Our knowledge of these now-extinct species is based mainly on leaf remains, since the stems and fruits rarely survive the fossilization process (Tidwell's Common Fossil Plants of Western North America (1975)). Leaf shape also helps to distinguish different species from one another. For example, the leaf of Ginkgo dissecta has a deeply dissected blade, as the species name implies, creating several lobes.
Ginkgo biloba is a dioecious tree species native only to China, though it is cultivated around the world and has been used for many medicinal treatments. Listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, the only surviving wild population is reportedly found on Tianmu Mountain, in the Zhejiang province of China.

OUT MY WINDOW .. AUTUMN TODAY
This is a quickie sketch in Watercolor & Ink of the view out my window...minus a couple of telephone poles and wires.
The colors are outstandingly intense this year and they are just getting started!
I am amazed at the variety of greens too, even though the fall colors are coming on.
The weather has been just wonderful...in the low 70's days and cool and crisp at night...I like it like this...:)

GARLIC FUN
WATERCOLOR & INK PAINTING
Dating back over 6,000 years, garlic is native to central Asia,[3] and has long been a staple in the Mediterranean region, as well as a frequent seasoning in Asia, Africa, and Europe. It was known to Ancient Egyptians, and has been used throughout its history for both culinary and medicinal purposes.
