ABSTRACT..LOST IN THE FOREST
ABSTRACT..LOST IN THE FOREST
For several days I have had a painting started I could not seem to finish...Mostly because the pinched nerve in my back/hip was concerning me. It is better finally.
I had this mixed media painting that I was not happy with....but I finally reached the point that I have to say Done...it sorta looks like my back, hip, and leg has felt for a couple of weeks!....:)
Kinda dark and brooding...:)

EGGPLANT FLOWER
EGGPLANT FLOWER
A friend posted a photo of her garden and in particular her Asian Eggplants. She mentioned how pretty the flower was which reminded me that I always thought they were so beautiful too, so I did a little quickie sketch, trying to capture the delicacy of them.
INK & WATERCOLOR
The eggplant, aubergine, melongene, brinjal, or guinea squash (Solanum melongena) is a plant of the family Solanaceae (also known as the nightshades) and genus Solanum. It bears a fruit of the same name, commonly used in cooking. As a nightshade, it is closely related to the tomato and potato and is native to India.[1][2]
It is a delicate perennial often cultivated as an annual. It grows 40 to 150 cm (16 to 57 in) tall, with large coarsely lobed leaves that are 10 to 20 cm (4–8 in) long and 5 to 10 cm (2–4 in) broad. Semiwild types can grow much larger, to 225 cm (7 ft) with large leaves over 30 cm (12 in) long and 15 cm (6 in) broad. The stem is often spiny. The flowers are white to purple, with a five-lobed corolla and yellow stamens. The fruit is fleshy, has a meaty texture, and is less than 3 cm (1.2 in) in diameter on wild plants, but much larger in cultivated forms.
The fruit is botanically classified as a berry, and contains numerous small, soft seeds, which are edible, but are bitter because they contain nicotinoid alkaloids, unsurprising as it is a close relative of tobacco.

CARDOON IN INK & WATERCOLOR
As you can see I am still enjoying playing with my new Metallic Gel Pen!!!...:)
The cardoon (Cynara cardunculus), also called the artichoke thistle, cardone, cardoni, carduni or cardi, is a thistle-like plant which is member of the aster family, Asteraceae; (or archaic: daisy family, Compositae). It is a naturally occurring variant of the same species as the globe artichoke, and has many cultivated varieties. It is native to the Mediterranean, where it was domesticated in ancient times.

SHASTA DAISIES
SHASTA DAISIES
This is my first experiment with a Gel pen and Metallic Ink.
This is a Watercolor & Ink painting, with a bit of Acrylic.
The Shasta daisy (Leucanthemum x superbum) is a commonly grown herbaceous perennial plant with the classic daisy appearance of white petals (ray florets) around a yellow disc, similar to the Oxeye daisy Leucanthemum vulgare Lam. but larger. Formerly classified in the genus Chrysanthemum, these daisies were transferred to their own genus of Leucanthemum because they lack some traits of true Chrysanthemums. Shasta daisies are characterized by a distinct odor which some find unpleasant, which makes them unusual amongst flowers.
The Shasta Daisy originated as a hybrid produced by the famed American horticulturist Luther Burbank, Leucanthemum lacustre (Brot.) Samp. x Leucanthemen maximum (Ramond) DC. Some members of the genus are considered noxious weeds, but the Shasta Daisy remains a favorite garden plant and groundcover.

YARROW IN THE GARDEN
YARROW IN THE GARDEN
This yarrow is putting on quite a display today in our warm weather.
Yarrow plant was originally found in Europe and Asia, and later migrated to North America. It has been used as tea, in food and for medicinal purposes, as far back as 1200 BC. The healing properties of Yarrow makes it a very beneficial and multiple purpose herb. This Plant flourishes between June and September at the eastern part of United States.
Its natural benefits:
Lately, it is not only used in food and medicine, but is also used as cosmetic cleanser. Chewing the leaves help take care of toothaches. The oil extracts is used in shampoo because of its benefits to the scalp.
Yarrow’s herbal tea helps stimulate appetite. It can also help to control stomach cramp, gastritis, gallbladder issues, and so on. It makes you perspire a lot, and in the process dilates the surface of the blood capillaries, which in turn helps immensely to improve poor blood circulation. It is also helpful when you have fever and cold.
It is a powerful herb – Caution is the key:
Some of its natural benefits are stopping nose bleeding and other forms of bleeding. These include minor external injuries and hemorrhage. Pregnant women are therefore advised to stay away from this herb, since it might cause a miscarriage. Talk to your doctor, before you think of messing with it. Using this herb for bath helps with sciatica, bone and joint problems. Don’t use Yarrow if you are pregnant, epileptic and hypersensitive.
This Plant’s tea contains a lot of spasmolytic substance which helps to reduce menstrual cramps problems and amenorrhea. Its benefits are almost endless. As a general rule, caution should be taken, before you take any herbs. Be sure it’s good for you, else find out from your doctor. Just like everything in life, each individual is different.
Its risk is very minimal and possibly try it in small dosage, till you’re sure it is good for your. You don’t take something that is supposed to boost your health, and only to end up in the hospital. Perspiration goes with dehydration, so always remember to get yourself hydrated when taking yarrow.

LILIES AND LONELY GERANIUM
photo
LILIES AND LONELY GERANIUM
This photo reminded me of this song. Is anyone old enough here to remember it???...:) :)
I'M A LONELY LITTLE PETUNIA IN AN ONION PATCH
The Happy Gang
Of all the saddest words
That I have ever heard
The saddest is the story
Told me by a bird
He had spent about and hour
Chatting with a flower
and here Ãs the tale the flower told
I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch,
an onion patch, an onion patch
I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch
and all I do is cry all day
Boo hoo, boo hoo
The air Ãs so strong it takes my breath away
I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch,
oh won't you come and play with me
Who put me in this bed?
I'll bet his face is red
I call him down with every teardrop that I shed
If I only had him here
I'd take him by the ear
And make him share my misery
I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch,
an onion patch, an onion patch
I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch
and all I do is cry all day
Boo hoo, boo hoo
The air Ãs so strong it takes my breath away
(Feee-you!)
I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch,
oh won't you come and play with me

MOMS CREATION
MOMS CREATION
My mom made this when she was in High School. She signed it and dated it 1934 on the back.
It hung on the wall in our home and I admired it all my childhood years, and I still love the charm of it.
She gave it to me a few years ago.
Mom was 93 last week.
It is simply a piece of glass, and painted figures using black paint. The ''frame'' is just black tape.
I am happy to have it and it will go to my granddaughter soon I think...:).....:) I have too much ''stuff''.!!
Try as I may, I could not get the bright spot in the middle of the photo out...that is only there in the photo.

PINK RUFFLED TULIP
I took a photo of this tulip a few months ago, and tried to paint it. I was unhappy with it so I threw it in my reject bin.
Today I decided to play with it more...and I do mean play!!!
There are all sorts of media in this...first I prepped the paper with Gesso applied with a palette knife. After drying I used Ink, Watercolor, Wax Water soluble crayons, and even some metallic ink...just about anything handy...:) :) :)
It was fun, fun, fun!!!!

A RHODODENDRON MEMORY
A RHODODENDRON MEMORY
During the months of April, May and June, along the Oregon coast, especially in the Florence area, the roadsides are lined with forests, with beautiful natural Rhododendrons at the base of the trees all in bloom. It is quite a delight to drive for miles with all of this pink and green splendor! The city of Florence even has a Rhododendron Festival usually scheduled during the middle of May when they are all in full bloom.
In the six years I lived there I took many drives all around the area and I miss the beauty of them blanketing the forests.
SUNRISE & STORM CLOUDS
SUNRISE & STORM CLOUDS
We are to have storms again today...I wish the rest of the country was getting some of this too.
The rain has been off and on just enough so that I have not had to water the garden yet this year!
