My field behind the house was covered with snow on April 18th....I will never cease to be amazed at how fast things grow here once the snow melts!
These daisies are just getting started but there is a field full of buds about to open.
I hope they are allowed to open before they get mowed!...:)

Finally got these 4 raised beds planted between rains. Still more to do! There is a huge pile of mulch to be put in around the 4 beds.
After I took this I removed one of the hanging tomato planters from last year, that was disintegrating. I will not plant tomatoes in the remaining two since they all got blossom end rot last year. I may come up with some flowers to grow out of them.

This is a little sketch from memory of Kennedy Meadows in California.

When my children were young we stayed in a very rustic cabin there and my son caught his first trout in the nearby stream.

Kennedy Meadows is located approximately 60 miles East of Sonora, nestled high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The resort people will pack you by horseback into the Emigrant Wilderness or Southern Yosemite National Park, and it is called the Gateway to the Emigrant Wilderness.

It is very beautiful there.

This is a Watercolor and Ink sketch.

This is more playing around with Mixed Media.
I used Watercolor, Ink, and Neocolor Watersoluble Wax pastels.

On May 14th I contracted some sort of illness that started with a sore throat and went into my head, ears and chest.
I was coughing so much, I was only getting 3-4 hours of sleep. Finally yesterday the Dr decided I have Asthmatic Bronchitis.
I have had Bronchitis before, but never with the Asthmatic word connected! I am now on a strong antibiotic.

I am rarely sick...and don't like it at all...so I have managed to amuse myself by painting the 3 Sea Holly paintings and the Grasses, and now this one. Thank goodness for Painting...!!!!!!!!!!! I believe it is very therapeutic...:) Everyone should try it.
Soon I will be back to daily paintings again I hope...:)

Thank you all for your continued encouragement and friendship over the months....I have always appreciated every one of your generous and kind thoughts, even though I have not thanked you each time....You are all dear to me....:)

AT THE TULIP TIME FESTIVAL...NO EDITING

TULIP TIME FESTIVAL ARTS & CRAFTS AREA

On Mothers Day my family (My daughter and son-in-law, and granddaughter) took me to the Tulip Time Festival in Holland Michigan, on the edge of Lake Michigan.

It was a perfectly beautiful sunny day between 65-75 degrees.

A lovely little city with every plantable inch filled with blooming tulips! Everywhere you looked there were Tulips of every size and description. There are also nearby tulip farms.

It is a completely charming place and many of the locals were dressed in Dutch costumes....:)

The Festival continues all of this week. Lots to do and see!

It was a gorgeous and wonderful day!

I painted these Iris buds as an experiment.
I used Matte medium first...let it dry, and then did the buds in mostly one stroke on the dry paper...I added touches of water, but very little...I did the stems in quick strokes of yellow and blue.
I was tempted to define it more with pen and ink, but decided to leave it loose...:)

No pre drawing.
